What Do I Do Now?

Once everyone is out of danger and the appropriate authorities/emergency services have been contacted:
-
In the case of a localized flood
(e.g. broken pipe):
- Stop the source of water flow.
- Stay away from any contaminated water or electrical hazards.
- Move furnishings out of wet areas, or protect legs with thick plastic bags.
- Pin-up draperies and furniture upholstery skirts.
- Call your insurance agent. And call Browns First Response Restoration Team: 866-OTT-CRDN (688-2736).
- Inform your agent of the situation and arrange for alternate accommodations, if necessary. Get their input on which emergency suppliers to call. You are not obligated to use any suppliers that your insurance company recommends. Browns Restoration Cleaning can be reached 24/7 at 819 664-3506 or 613 227-7772. The contact card to give your adjustor is included in this printable PDF.
- Prompt action by professional restoration specialists will mitigate damage and ensure that more items can be restored to “pre-loss” condition. Regardless of the time, call Browns Cleaners and structural repair service providers immediately.
- If you have access to your house, be very cautious. Look for and avoid exposed wiring, structural damage, etc. There may be many pollutants and potentially harmful airborne particles, so wearing a filter mask would be wise and people with allergies should stay out of the home at this point.
- Access insurance policies, important papers and documentation (including photos/video), stored in a fireproof lock-box or off-site, and review with your insurance agent.
- Prepare list of items that you want back right away from Browns Cleaners. (Clothing and other items that you’ll need.)
- Let us restore and return your valuable possessions—possessions you may have thought lost.
